Thurcroft Curriculum Model
Our bespoke curriculum is designed to meet the needs of the pupils at Thurcroft Infant School. It makes appropriate adaptations to enable all children to succeed. It is reflective of our community and embraces elements of local history and geography to provide children with a deep understanding of where they live.
Our curriculum is broad and balanced and follows the National Curriculum. It extends opportunity, raises aspiration and opens children’s eyes to the world beyond their immediate environment, enabling them to live happy, healthy and productive lives, which inspires children to be ambitious in their learning. Rich experiences are woven into our curriculum to provide opportunites for memorable learning e.g. educational visits. We provide a wide range of extra-curricular activities which are accessible to all.
Our curriculum is clearly sequenced and is progressive across EYFS and KS1. Learning is designed to enable children to practice, revisit, apply and recall knowledge and skills to enable learning to become ‘sticky’ and to be stored in the long-term memory.
Our curriculum reflects the latest research and curriculum guidance. Subject leaders have strong subject knowledge and access CPD opportunities to ensure our pedagogy is research informed to best support our pupils to become successful and the best that they can be.
